I went to Adelaide Central Market today for the first time.
I walk past it most days on the way to work. It’s in Grote Street, which becomes Sir Donald Bradman Drive after West Terrace.
The market is a great place to buy fresh meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables.
Today we bought some kangaroo meatballs and Thai fish cakes for dinner.

One of the shops near White Rock (BC, Canada) had kangaroo meat for sale. I was tempted to buy some, but I wasn’t sure how fresh it might be … which is not the total truth … it was something like $15 a pound which is quite a bit for something that might taste like chicken.
(For all I know the local supermarket carries kangaroo. I’d never noticed it carried lamb until my wife brought some home. Of course, I drive by sheep every once in a while. Kangaroos are harder to come by.)

It’s a very lean meat and tastes surprisingly sweet. In Australia it’s cheaper than other meats, but not commonly eaten.
I remember my pet cat (now a really dead cat) loved kangaroo meat, it drove him nuts when I took it out of the fridge.
The smell is really off…and strong when it is raw.
Me? not a big fan of meat that looks dodgy or smells a bit weird.
If it looks strange, it has to be too strange to eat.
