Holey shoes given the boot
I’ve finally worn out my first pair of running shoes. A hole emerged near my big toe in the right shoe a couple of months ago, but I plodded on until Monday when I purchased a new pair in Wangaratta.
The old trusties were actually purchased as walking shoes about two years ago. They had a solid sole and heel, which made them ideal for walks on hard surfaces, where it wasn’t too steep.
I adapted them to running and they lasted me longer than could have been expected. Good running shoes cost upwards of $150 and I simply don’t have that much spare cash.
I settled on a comfortable pair of $35 running shoes from Big W. I used them today over 7km and they felt good.
I guess a good (expensive) pair may last about a year, or maybe 1000km, whichever comes first. Even if these shoes only last half as long they’ll have served me well.
