Password security
We’ve all read or heard the warnings about password security, but how seriously do we take them? It’s always a shrug and thought that it won’t happen to me.
Well, my database scare this week has shaken my apathy and I’m going to be much more careful about passwords from now on.
Apparently it’s becoming easier and more common for people to crack passwords. It’s strongly recommended not to use dictionary words or common names. Random alpha-numeric combinations are the safest bet.
Internet banking must be a real worry zone. I guess the user name, which is usually an obscure number, provides an extra layer of protection, but how much?
