Michael has just finished his first season of competitive tennis. He won his singles and doubles matches in the grand final, but his team lost by one game.
The final score was something like 8 sets 43 games to 8-42.
Michael nearly played cricket instead of tennis this summer. I thought he had potential as a medium-fast bowler, although his batting is ordinary. He’s pretty much good at every sport he tries and tennis was no exception.
It’s also something we can do together.

I was Intramural Tennis Champ in College.
(Which sounds so much more impressive when it’s said that way. Were I to point out that I played far more games (far far more) than anybody else and that points accumulated across games it sounds a lot less impressive. In any case, I got a shirt for my efforts.)
