Country kids show them how

Michael participates in the Round Ball community football development program in Mount Gambier. It’s basically a not-for-profit academy program that caters for children at different levels.

The main objectives are to promote fun, fitness and teamwork.

Over the past few days Michael has played in the program’s under 14 team against elite academy squads from Melbourne and Adelaide. The visiting academies are effectively commercial soccer schools.

Michael heard the players’ families pay up to $1000 a year for children to participate.

It was a credit to the Mount Gambier boys and girls they performed so well against the capital city visitors.

Michael’s team won all three trophies on offer: seven-a-side, Futsal and 11-a-side. Michael scored a goal in one of the 11-a-side matches.
