Online bookmarks

I switch between Windows, Kanotix and various live Linux CDs on my home computer. It’s something of a hobby to try different systems.

One downside is that I have to set up Firefox with plugins and bookmarks each time I use a new system. A solution I should have discovered earlier is to save my bookmarks online.

There are quite a few free providers. Simply Google for "online bookmarks" and you’ll find them.

I’ve gone with iKeepBookmarks and I’m happy with the service. It’s easy to add listings and simple to navigate. Security can be set up so that visitors optionally have the ability to add, edit, or delete links and folders.

Most impressively, it’s a one-click process to export bookmarks to a file so they can be imported to your favorite browser. That’s ideal when using a live CD.
