National Archives of Australia
December 21, 2004 ·
I revisited the National Archives of Australia web site this afternoon for the first time in several years.
I came across the scanned military records of my great uncles James and William (Gorey). I also found the immigration application of my mother’s Wassenberg family, undertaken through my grandparents Francis and Johanna from the Netherlands.
The photograph (left) shows my Pop Wassenberg, of whom I was extremely fond. It was taken just before his departure from the Netherlands to Australia in 1955. I think there’s a definite resemblance with James, and to a lesser extent with Dude.
