Email from heaven?

January 6th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Technology

I know I’m not supposed to click on my own Google ads, but I couldn’t resist checking out one for Heaven’s Mail. The service promotes itself as an “Eternal Portal” providing an online memorial which survives when you don’t.

You can send e-cards and email automatically from beyond the grave to remind loved ones of your presence on the other side. The only conditions are that you have to be terminally ill or aged over 50. Standard membership costs US$250.

At first I thought this was a joke. Then I wondered if it wasn’t rather macabre. My final conclusion is that it’s a smart way to make a few bucks from those vain enough to want a cyber memorial.

Personally I’d rather send emails from heaven to people I don’t like. There’s a black humor attached to niggling those in death who made your life miserable.
