Fixed the dangling drive

January 12th, 2006 | 1 Comment

We haven’t been able to close the CD-RW drive on Kathleen’s computer for a month or so now. We figured the toddlers stuck something in there.

I wasn’t going to let the computer be packed with a dangling drive, so looked under the hood tonight to try and extract the foreign object.

I’m not knowledgeable about the inside part of computers, but managed to remove the drive and open it up. Out popped one CD, then another, another and another. There were four CDs inserted. Pulling them out was like delivering kittens.

I can picture one or both of the twins imitating big people and sticking disks in the drive; the anticipation followed by a puzzled look of disappointment when nothing happened like it was supposed to.

I removed a kid’s wooden block from a VCR once. The tapes fit so much better then.
