Easter mayhem

April 6th, 2007 | No Comments

There’s a good column by Kitty Prodonovich in Saturday’s paper about the annual Easter shopping panic. How true it is!

I had the misfortune to call in at a supermarket on Thursday afternoon and it was total mayhem. It’s like people were buying supplies to withstand radiation fall-out or some other catastrophe. Shopping trolleys full of bread and milk as if they will never be on the shelves again.

Sure, most shops are closed on Good Friday, but I just drove past the 24-hour store and it was open. There was a chemist open too.

I had to work five hours today. We finished most of Saturday’s paper on Thursday but left a few pages for today in case anything exciting happened.
