Why do we blog?

I’ve been tidying up the back end of this web site. I have deleted the daily weather records I used to publish while living at Porepunkah. When I converted from Pivot to WordPress a number of posts were left unpublished and wrongly classified. These have either been reinstated or deleted.

This time-consuming exercise resulted in the removal of more than 700 posts, mostly weather related.

While undertaking this task I came across some interesting entries, many related to the twins and their various milestones after being born in December 2003.

To other bloggers out there, have you ever posted something which you regret later, or which makes you cringe when reading it again?

I can honestly say I passed my personal cringe test but there were a number of posts I would not put out there today, mainly rants against services and kneejerk political comments.

Why do I blog? I like to chronicle significant events in my life and the life of my family. I like to express opinions on various subjects and I like writing.

When I started this site in July 2003 I had no other outlet for expression. Now being a newspaper editor again I have another outlet. I’m also better informed on many issues and I have other responsibilities.

That’s a rambling explanation for why this site rambles between family news, opinions and observations. It’s a personal site, not a platform for self-aggrandisement or commercial gain.
