Fake soldier

It must be highly embarrassing for the Australian Army that a Werribee truck driver Peter Bennett (pictured left) was able to disguise himself as a soldier and gain access to military facilities and functions.

As The Age reports:

At the height of his 10-month, self-appointed military career that began in 2005, Bennett joined Operation Acolyte, the Australian Defence Force security team at RAAF Williams and Point Cook for Melbourne’s Commonwealth Games.

The former armed robber was convicted of impersonating a public official and making a false declaration and put on an 18-month community-based order.
