Public service housing in WA
June 15th, 2007 | No Comments
The Western Australian Government has inexplicably increased the rent for public service employee housing. This will impact on teachers, police and others from July 1.
While the amount involved is only $10 a week it’s a curious decision.
The state faces a major labor shortage and has trouble getting people to work in country areas, where mining sector wages are generally twice more than those in service industries.
The simple fact is that people need incentives to live away from the coast in the current labor market. I really can’t fathom the logic.
