Blog credibility survey

July 18th, 2007 | No Comments

Axinia brought my attention to a blog credibility survey (Deutsch). It shows that 26.4 percent of people don’t trust corporate blogs, but blogs by journalists are highly credible (trusted by between four and seven percent of readers).

Well, that makes a nice change. Maybe it’s an urban myth, but I’ve heard of previous professional surveys which show that journalists are ranked with politicians and car salesmen for trustworthiness.

I’ve never understood that myself. Although I’ve met a few weasel journalists over the years, they don’t last long, especially in country areas where reporters are directly accountable to the people they write about.

The survey confirms my view however, that newspapers can convert their publication medium successfully from press to the internet because people respect the credible third-party reportage of information without bias or opinion.

Anyone can do that, of course, but newspapers have checks and balances through editors and so forth. They also have established networks and credibility.
