International driving
I’ve recently hired a young Canadian graduate to work as a journalist. She’s a lovely person and I’m sure she will settle in well (hi Elaine, if you’re reading).
One of her necessary adaptations is learning to drive on the left side of the road. It reminded me of this earlier post. Elaine’s experience also coincides with Delmer’s visit to England from the United States and his motoring commentary.
Delmer’s admission that he struggled to adapt reinforces my own view that I could no longer drive comfortably on the wrong side of the road.
I know that 40 is “young” but it’s also a time of your life when habits are fairly entrenched. New learning is not a problem; it’s changing old habits.
