Boulder Cup Day

I went to the Kalgoorlie Boulder Racing Club today to experience the atmosphere of Boulder Cup day. Sadly for a firehorse, my allergy to horses restricts the time I can spend at race meetings.

The Boulder Cup though has a great atmosphere. It was a perfect, mild sunny day with a good-size crowd. I checked out the members area, wandered through the betting ring, admired the fashions and soaked up the sun.

I placed two each-way bets, missing out altogether on the first and winning most of my money back on the second.

The Boulder Cup is the start of a big week in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, known as Race Round. It culminates next Saturday with the $140,000 Kalgoorlie Cup.

One Response to Boulder Cup Day

Now that horse movements are permitted in Victoria I understand the museum has changed its mind about your councillor's request for Phar Lap and are sending him over. If you're going to the Cup would you mind putting $10 on 'Big Red' on my behalf? Even though he's stuffed and is in a glass cage I think he'd still win.
