Any hope for Howard?

The Federal election will probably be called today or tomorrow. Blogger Andrew Landeryou, whose sympathies are with the rational wing of the Labor Party, ponders if John Howard can do anything to win:

“Can they turn around the sinking ship of state? Maybe, you know, if:

? They find proof that the Labor leader hangs with strippers, lied about his childhood and is married to a multi-millionaire whose fortune has been taxpayer generated exploiting the most vulnerable in the community,

? Labor’s deputy was a paid operative secret former communist symp,

? There’ll be wall-to-wall, coast-to-coast Labor governments,

? Unions have 50% of the decision-making power within the ALP,

? Kim Carr is serious about industry planning,

? Mad Mark Latham’s best buddy Joel Fitzgibbon could be in charge of defending our island continent;

? Beijing kow-tow-er Simon Crean could end up being Foreign Minister because the incumbent likes to speak up for the civil rights of convicted mass murderers,

? Half the dunces in Labor’s not really expected to get seats are a menace to society and some other things I dare not even mention.”

Then it might all change, says Andrew.

As he points out though, voters already know all of the above. Quite scary.

    Ge I guess your going to vote for the old codger and his pack of rats who throw children into concentration camps that’s much better!

    I haven’t decided who I’m voting for yet and the detention policy won’t influence me.

    I’m concerned about the inexperience and lack of talent on Labor’s front bench. It may be local issues in Kalgoorlie that determine my choice.

    Bob, posting on 15th October at 7.34 a m, I think you should check this. Putting refugees/illegal immigrants into detention centres was started by Keatings’ Labor government, presumably on the grounds that the decision about who is allowed to settle in Oz should properly be made by the elected government not just anybody who has an opinion.
