My crystal ball was working in terms of predicting the Federal Election outcome. The analysis will now start, but I wonder how frank the Labor Party will be in assessing Mark Latham’s lacklustre performance.
As I observed previously, he messed up the tax policy and made a political blunder on forest policy. Latham doesn’t care about old-growth forests; he’s made that quite clear in the past. His policy to stop logging was a blatant political strategy to win Green preferences.
The Greens haven’t done as well as they or their media friends expected.
I just heard Peter McGauran on the radio enjoying his victory in the marginal seat of Gippsland. He made the comment that Mark Latham doesn’t resonate in country Australia. I agree with him. Labor needs to rethink its approach and develop policies for all Australia, not just the suburbs of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
