Masterfoods disappoint

Forget the election. Forget the grand final analysis. The big issue of the day is that food processing company, Masterfoods, has scrapped their sweet chilli relish. This was my favorite sandwich spread; especially tasty with ham or tuna.

The product is still listed on the company web site, so I sent an e-mail asking why it wasn’t for sale at Safeway as it used to be. They replied:

“Unfortunately, there were not sufficient sales of this product to
warrant the stores keeping it in their range and therefore it is no
longer manufactured. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause
you.”

The only way to change this terrible decision is through people power. I urge all relish lovers to visit the Masterfoods contact page and state your views.

While there you can tell them the new labels are no good. I can’t understand why any company would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars changing a good successful label for one that is no better. The only plausible explanation is that some marketing gurus came up with the idea to justify their huge salaries.
