What’s wrong with brown?

Is my blog the only one in the world to have brown in its theme color? I haven’t seen any others.

Why is brown so disdained? Apart from being the color of faeces I can’t see any marketing/style reason why it should be snubbed (probably just nailed it). Graeme Garden

Brown has never been fashionable in clothes, apart from 1970s corduroys. Graeme Garden (pictured) from The Goodies sticks in my mind as a brown man.

Brown is earthy. I like brown with green (soil and grass), blue and orange (sky/water and fire).

I guess when you sit down to design a blog theme it’s not the first color to spring into mind. Brown doesn’t appear much in corporate or sports marketing either.

The only example I can think of is the Hawthorn Football Club in the AFL.

I don’t mind being unique. Brown is good with green, in my opinion. It also works with yellow and orange.

I see more green than brown here :) Seriously though brown as a website colour was very vogue in 2005. Web designers realised it was a colour that had been little used before then. Here’s what my site looked like back then, with a little brown in the mix: http://www.disassociated.com/stuff/brown_2005.gif

Brown is around. Our living room is decked out with furniture of varying shades of chocolate brown, it was vogue in interior fashion a year or three back as well :)
