Guest racing tipster
I’m the guest tipster for The Border Watch’s racing selections this week. It’s reported in the paper today that Gorey “has boldly declared he knows something about the horse racing game. Well let’s test him out!”
I’m no guru when it comes to equine pursuits, but I take an interest in the industry as opposed to the form.
Concerned that my selections might disgrace The Border Watch, I was informed by the sports editor not to worry, because “everyone else has” (stuffed up the tips).
I used my extensive knowledge and some informed track-side contacts in deciding how to invest $100 in the Bookmakers Retirement Fund.
Here are the pearls of wisdom for Saturday races, June 21 –
Morphettville: Race 5, No 4 Lord Braemar each way ($15);
Moonee Valley: Race 7, No 5 Purple Chocolate each way ($15);
Belmont: Race 6, No 1 Amici win ($20); race 8, No 11 Vizard ($10) each way.
I’ll report here Saturday night on the outcome.

Despite picking two winners at Belmont I lost money at the track.
The Morphettville and Moonee Valley picks failed to run a place, showing my ignorance of eastern state races.
I returned $61 from the $100 investment according to my figures, which means I will probably be given the flick as guest tipster.
I wasn’t totally disgraced though.
