Clever John Howard

I think the Coalition will win the Federal Election and possibly increase their majority. I don’t think it’s a good government, but most people seem content and in no mood for change.

Certainly the rural electorates are unlikely to swing against the Coalition, as they have done in the recent past.

If it were a contest between Peter Costello and Mark Latham, Labor would probably win because people would find it easier to rationalise change.

Howard has become a sort of grandfatherly figure. He’s the devil we know. It’s amazing that a short, deaf man with no charisma has been so successful as a politician.

The loony left are passionately opposed to him, which means he must be doing something right.

At first glance Labor’s tax policy appears favorable, but I’m waiting for Howard to trump it, as he did cleverly with the Medicare announcement this week.

I’m still personally undecided, but leaning towards the government.
