Valley Lake Wildlife Park

Valley Lake Wildlife Park

The Valley Lake Wildlife Park is a small nature reserve near the popular Valley Lake playground and boating area in Mount Gambier.

It was fairly quiet there today when we took the kids for a look, possibly because it was cool again.

I didn’t expect to see much, because Australian animals are mostly nocturnal. We were pleasantly surprised though.

Sure enough, the kangaroos were dozing, but we saw them stretched out under a tree. There were plenty of birds, mostly swamp hens.

We also saw a turtle, an echidna and a tiger snake. The snake was viewed safely from above on the boardwalk.
