Maggie and Jim celebrated their fifth birthday today.
We had planned to visit Port MacDonnell, 30km to the south, buy fish and chips, eat on the foreshore and let the kids roam on the playground.
Unfortunately it was another cool and cloudy day, with drizzle early in the afternoon, like the whole of December so far.
So we went out to an Italian restaurant and enjoyed a lovely meal.

And again with the lousy weather. I don’t know much about Eastern States weather but it’s weird here when it rains in December. I know the Summer weather’s always more changeable over there but is this typical for where you are?
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It occurred to me while writing this item that I had posted on all children’s birthdays, except when they turned two.
I mentioned this to Juliet last night, and she reminded me that I travelled to Perth in late December 2005 for an interview regarding the Kalgoorlie Miner position.
In the space of three days I missed the twins’ birthday and Kathleen’s “graduation” from primary school.

Our December has been colder than that last couple I remember. I don’t mind the temperature so much but it seems we’ve had absolutely no sunshine — and the dreariness makes it seem even colder.
