This bearded man, with a crazed look in his eyes, escaped the operating theatre and covered over half a mile into the CBD of Kalgoorlie. He ran down the middle of the main street until police eventually restrained him. Some people thought it poor taste that we ran the photo, but it was truly a unique news event we couldn't ignore. It also raised questions about how a patient could leave the operating theatre and cover such a long distance unchallenged. It was a really bizarre event.
