21st birthday (2nd) celebrated

I celebrated my second 21st birthday today. It was pretty low key, but most enjoyable.

It started with my regular habit of taking Sooty for a walk, and we were both unfortunately chased by a large dog, whose owner couldn’t restrain it, even though the dog was on a lead.

After that I felt I needed a “chill pill”, which was a phrase I heard for the first time earlier this week from my eldest daughter (14), in relation to my youngest son (5).

Then we discovered a live mouse stranded in the bath tub. As I mentioned on Twitter, after consulting NATO we managed to dispose of it in scenes reminiscent of a Tom and Jerry episode.

Things settled down after that; we had a nice lunch and a pleasant afternoon (so far). There is a nice cake waiting for me with 42 small meringues on top instead of candles.

It was good to have the week off work, and I think I now appreciate having my birthday in summer.

The highlight was receiving this lovely picture from Maggie:

    Happy Birthday, Michael.

While a man should get a physical once a year I don’t know that it’s necessary to get it on one’s birthday. Having it administered by a large dog is a new twist as well. I’m glad to hear that you and Scotty both passed.

    Belated Happy Birthday!!

Yes, there seems to a connection between the size of a dog and the puniness of the person attempting to restrain it. Thus, one sees massive bikie types walking terriers on heavy chain leads and mastiffs being followed by children clutching string leads.
