I’m impressed the South Australian Premier, Mike Rann, is an active twitterer. He posts news, personal information and opinions several times a day.

I’m one of his 1552 followers (and counting) and find his posts interesting. He makes most of them by text message.

Here is a recent sample:

“I hope other states will follow our ban on non reusable plastic supermarket bags. Billions pollute OZ environment each year.”

“In past year our Crime Gangs Task Force have made 320 arrests, confiscated 113 firearms, seized huge quantities of drugs and drug equipment.”

“Bikies calling todays rally ‘freedom ride’- for crims it means freedom to use violence, freedom to make and sell drugs, freedom to extort.”

“Great news! Northern Territory Chief Minister Paul Henderson has announced the Territory will intro container deposit law like ours.”

The Premier tweets more frequently than I do.

It’s an interesting use of the medium for him to be so prolific and candid. I think it’s refreshing.

    Cool!

    I’m going to follow him!

You guys don’t recycle the plastic bags?!

If I have to get those plastic bags, I do make a point to return them to the store’s recycling bin on my next trip. I like the canvas bags, though, so I tend to use those more often.

  3. Michael says:

There was never a recycling program for plastic bags, which are going to be banned entirely. We used them as kitchen rubbish bags.

It’s good to see a politician using new technology constructively, instead of self promotion.
