Delmer blogged recently about his experience of a good day.
It involved a repair man and a courier both remarkably turning up on time, and the repairs being completed successfully with the bonus of a new improved remote control device being provided.
Not only that, the remote had a bonus “D” for Delmer button.
My comment was that I can relate to a sense of order, bonus time and a bonus button being pretty incredible.
Equally incredible might be getting through a day without hearing any complaints from staff or children, the latter of which also don’t request money. During the day you back a winner on the racetrack or the stockmarket. Then getting home early there is some great sport on television, cold beer in the fridge and you don’t have to get up early the next day.
It’s not that I gamble much. In fact, that’s a vice I barely succumb to at all. But I love a win. Who doesn’t?
That’s what makes a winning day incredible, along with one where I don’t have to play Al Bundy and hand the contents of my wallet away.

There’s a song called Saturday Morning Confusion that contains one of my favourite lyrics:
It’s a Saturday morning confusion
And if I could just hide in my attic
So I couldn’t hear my wife yellin’ “Take ‘em all to the show”
I’ll take the whole neighborhood to the show
I’ll just walk out in back where the money-tree grows
Grab me a handful and off to the show we’ll go
I love that bit about where the money-tree grows!
Now, that’s a remote!
