I don’t go into a bank very often these days, most of my banking is done online.
I had a couple of cheques that had been sitting in my tray for several months. Although not a lot of money, I wanted to cash it in before starting a summer holiday.
And while in the branch, I decided to cancel an unused credit card and transfer the limit to my Earth card, which earns frequent flyer points.
I was taken aback when the teller at Westpac introduced herself and asked how she might help me!
The cheques took 30 seconds to process, but the card took a phone call and a few minutes to sort out. I also asked her to remove a previously cancelled card from my internet banking list.
The fact it was one cent in credit seemed to be the sticking point.
What struck me about the visit was the turnaround in customer service values since the last time I had been to a Westpac branch, probably two or three years ago. Well done Westpac.
