Prince Charles

March 5th, 2005 | No Comments

Prince Charles has just left Australia for New Zealand after a short but successful visit. The monarchy would be more meaningful to Australians if the Queen, Prince Charles and Princess Anne spent more time in this country.

As it stands, the media is clearly supporting a republican agenda. The Herald-Sun wrote an editorial to that effect several weeks ago.

That newspaper and The Age have been referring to the Prince of Wales as “Britain’s Prince Charles”. Of course he is also Australia’s Prince Charles, Canada’s Prince Charles, New Zealand’s Prince Charles, New Guinea’s Prince Charles and a host of other countries’ Prince Charles under our various constitutions.

So much for unbiased reporting! These newspapers clearly have an agenda to influence change. Princess Mary of Denmark had fewer references to “Denmark’s Princess Mary” than Charles had to Britain.
