Wandi Nut Festival

We enjoyed a family outing today to the Wandiligong Nut Festival. The festival is a series of events to celebrate the area’s nut-producing industry and other foods.

Today was actually a market at Alpine Park featuring local produce. I expected to see more nuts than we did, and perhaps sample nut cakes, nut soup, etc, but there wasn’t any of that.

There were more olives than nuts. I don’t know what it is about olives, but they seem to have proliferated in recent years. I don’t mind olive oil for cooking, but I can’t stand the things otherwise.

We came home from the market with some spicy sauces, boiled sweets and nut beer from Italy. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours on Mother’s Day.
