Sachin Tendulkar in Adelaide

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar dined at a popular Thai Restaurant in Adelaide last night. I know that because my wife works there and she served him.

He was with some older men she didn’t recognise, possibly team management or local supporters.

India plays Australia in a one-day international tomorrow at Adelaide Oval.

Spot the parrot

Parrots at West Beach

I took this picture with my mobile phone today while walking past the West Beach Primary School.

I’m neither a botanist nor an ornithologist, but the birds are some type of parrot and I guess the bush is a bottlebrush.

I’ll mention too the weather has been remarkably cool for Adelaide in February over the past week.

View from the office

Government House, Adelaide

I have four offices in Adelaide from which I work at various times. That requires me to carry four different electronic security passes for entry, which is rather annoying, but less annoying than forgetting to take one.

One of my offices looks over Victoria Square toward Gulf St Vincent. In fact, the sea is visible on most days, 10km away.

Adelaide Oval impressions

Adelaide Oval

I attended Test cricket this week to see Australia play India at Adelaide Oval. It was my first time at a game since October 2005 when Australia played the ICC World XI at the SCG.

As far as I know, that game is considered a Test for statistical purposes.

Australia won by 210 runs, with Matt Hayden scoring 111 in the first innings and 77 in the second, while Stuart MacGill snared nine wickets.

River Torrens blue-green algae warning

River Torrens

The Health Department has issued a blue-green algae health warning for the River Torrens downstream of the city weir.

That includes Linear Park, where we like to walk, between the Tapleys Hill Road bridge and the river mouth.

According to Wikipedia, blue-green algae is the common term for cyanobacteria.
