Make it compulsory to desex cats
Local councils across Australia are grappling with the issue of how to manage nuisance cats. Owned cats are more likely to be registered and desexed. The problem is mainly with stray animals.
A national network of vets and carers called Cat Rescue says every year more than 100,000 animals are euthanased in pounds and shelters across Australia. Many of these animals come from unwanted litters born to undesexed pets.
