Exploring Port MacDonnell

We’re determined to visit a new place in the Mount Gambier district every weekend. Today we drove 28km to Port MacDonnell, the southernmost town in South Australia, population 650.
It was proclaimed a port in 1860. Ships anchored a mile out to sea and supplies were taken by launch to and from the jetty.

Impressions of Esperance

I mentioned earlier that we were heading to Esperance, which we did last weekend, but due to work commitments I haven’t had a chance to post my impressions until now.
It’s nearly a four-hour drive from Kalgoorlie via Norseman. The countryside changes from forested scrub to farmland about 70km from Norseman, or 110km from Esperance.
