The Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council (CCAAC) has invited public comment on a review of gift cards in the Australian market.
The issues paper seeks evidence and views about whether consumer detriment is caused by the purchase and use of gift cards by Australian shoppers.
I am again writing to you regarding the above order and account. I wish to complain that despite repeated attempts and assurances, the order has not been cancelled. On July 21, I completed an online order for a Samsung GalaxyS II handset on a $29 per month cap plan over 12 months. After receiving no communications regarding delivery in three business days, I called Vodafone customer service on July 26 and was told my credit reference had failed. As a result, I asked that my order be cancelled. I was told by the customer service officer that my order would be cancelled.
Daughter Kathleen was told she has to spend $90 to redeem $45 on a gift card at book store Angus and Robertson, now in administration. Last night I went to transfer $800 from my Westpac savings account to my Westpac Mastercard account. Using electronic banking I accidentally did it the wrong way round, and transferred from Mastercard to the savings account. I immediately moved the money back again to the correct account.
