Sachin Tendulkar in Adelaide

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar dined at a popular Thai Restaurant in Adelaide last night. I know that because my wife works there and she served him.

He was with some older men she didn’t recognise, possibly team management or local supporters.

India plays Australia in a one-day international tomorrow at Adelaide Oval.

Gobble and Go

I write with hesitation about the Gobble and Go Cafe at 22 Currie Street, Adelaide. I love the place and don’t want too many others to discover it! I like to catch an early bus into the city and have breakfast while reading the news. Visit any coffee shop or cafe and it costs about $10 for a coffee with a toasted ham-and-cheese sandwich. That’s too much! At the Gobble and Go cafe, I can have a three-egg omelette with ham and cheese, plus two pieces of toast and a mug of coffee for $5!

Kibbi’s Cafe

We enjoyed dinner tonight at Kibbi’s Cafe on King William Road in Hyde Park. The restaurant serves a mix of cooking styles from Mediterranean, pizza, seafood, tapas, steaks and kebabs. We had the mezze plate for entree followed by kangaroo fillet and kibbi for mains. It was a good-value $59 Living Social deal.

Ethiopian restaurant

I tend to associate Ethiopia with famine, but the country has excellent cuisine, based on my experience tonight of an Abyssinian restaurant on Henley Beach Road. The food was spicy without being hot. It’s eaten by hand with soft pancake-textured bread.

I cooked a salmon fillet tonight for the first time. I bought the fish yesterday at the market. It was cooked in the oven for 15 minutes, wrapped in foil with lemon juice and pepper; tasted delicious.
