The Border Mail newspaper today took up my rant against organisers of the Queen’s Baton Relay for asking interested country people to tell them what suburb and city they live in.
The article probably accelerated the official response I received today, which states the web form has been modified. Yes, the “city” field is no longer mandatory, but “suburb” remains.
I asked why “suburb” can’t be changed to “Town/suburb” or something similar, and received another reply saying they are “unable” to do this.
I’ve created many web forms and I know it’s technically possible to make this minor adjustment. I can only presume it’s politically or bureaucratically impossible.
