I came across a fascinating profile of New York Post editor, Australian Col Allan by Lloyd Grove.
I never knew much about Allan, and didn’t game him any thought until the Kevin Rudd strip club report. Allan sounds a real larrikan.
The above front cover, after Paris Hilton was released from jail, shows his “style” and humor. It’s not a style that I am personally comfortable with, but I respect tabloid journalism when it is properly executed like at the Post.
In large metropolitan markets, where circulation revenue is vital and easily swayed by style, there’s no doubt that papers like this have their place.
