Michael Jnr is something of a computer wiz at the age of nine. He asked me for a blank CD this morning to burn some music, and assured me knows how to do this. I have no reason to doubt him.
It paused me to reflect on how much I knew about computers at his age, which was nothing.
I never touched a computer until I was 20 years old in 1987.
I recall wasting a term of Applied Maths in Year 11 though, in 1983, on the obscure topic of computer programming, none or which I absorbed, understood or remember.
My earliest computer usage was at the Bairnsdale Advertiser as a cadet journalist.
During my first few months at the newspaper we used typewriters and copy paper, which gives me a unique link to the past.
