One horse town

Dartmoor, Victoria
We visited Dartmoor today and had lunch at the pub. Dartmoor is about 50km from Mount Gambier in Victoria.

I could say it’s a “one horse town“, but that wouldn’t be true. I saw more horses there than people.

In the 2006 census Dartmoor had a population of 219. It’s probably less now because the sawmill closed several months ago.

The Glenelg River flows through the town. It’s not a big river at Dartmoor though.

We were thinking yesterday about finding a swimming hole, but the weather was cool and wet again, so we settled for a pub lunch and watching the cricket. We then followed the river to Princess Margaret Cave before returning to Mount Gambier.

A feature of Dartmoor is wooden sculptures in the park and around the town. They are quite beautiful and distinctive.
