Here’s a YouTube video of the final moments of Fitzroy v Collingwood from 1992 when Paul Roos booted the winning goal with the final kick of the day. That’s one of my favorite football moments.
I was living in Ceduna at the time and heard the result on the radio. I’ve watched the full-length video several times.
Fitzroy had a good record against Collingwood. I travelled to Melbourne for the same fixture in 1993 and saw Fitzroy win again, with Alastair Lynch kicking the first four goals.
There was always a strong rivalry between the clubs. I read somewhere that it’s because Fitzroy used to send its sewerage downhill across Smith Street. Fair enough.
