Greyhound racing

greyhound racing Mount Gambier

I’ve never been to dog racing. I will go one day, just for a look. This is a great picture by David Powell for The Border Watch.

We sponsored the race for $345. The winner, Seaview Moon, covered 277 metres in 16.55 seconds, which is pretty snappy.

I don’t know why they race 277 metres. The imperial equivalent is 303 yards, which doesn’t equate to anything obvious in terms of a mile.

My other surprise is they’re chasing a red thing with a fluffy white cottontail, a bit like a Santa hat.

I thought they used to pursue a metal rabbit?
