High country cattle drive

Found some photos today, which I took in 2002, of cattle being walked through Porepunkah on their way to the alpine high country.

I was publishing the Alpine News at the time and recall being woken up around 6am by the unusual sound (for downtown Porepunkah) of cows bellowing.

I looked out the window to see a large herd being driven along the road by horsemen.

Correctly assuming it to be the annual trek from Eurobin to the alps, I grabbed my camera and took these shots. I regret not interviewing the horsemen, especially as this may have been the final year before high-country grazing was banned.
