Hi Amy, it's a while since I lived in Kalgoorlie, but I think you will be fine. There are plenty of good childcare options (PDF). There's a fair bit of red tape getting an overseas or interstate vehicle licensed in Western Australia, but it's not too hard, just time consuming. You will also need to obtain a WA licence.

With rentals, have a look at this site and register your interest with some of the property agents. It will be easier if you have previous rental references or a letter from your husband's employer. Best wishes.

Hi, My husband has been in contact with Komatsu and we are looking at moving from NZ to kalgoorlie. We have a daughter who is not quite 2yrs and is wanting to know as much as you can tell us. We are looking at moving for 2-3 years so are looking at taking our toyota prado with us. Can you give us any info about what we need to do when the car is there eg: number plates etc, and about childcare and who to contact about renting.

Thank you
