The Girl Who Wished She Was Australian did a keyword post. She has seen other people do it. I haven’t seen it before, but I lead a sheltered life.
These are the top 10 keywords driving people to my site, according to Google Analytics:
- kalgoorlie miner
- google finance
- y7mail
- cloudstreet
- AFL drugs
- michael gorey
- yakedi
- mathemagic
- meet a mining man
- the day we went to bangor
I’ve omitted similar keyword phrases, such as “google finance australia” and “hawthorn AFL drugs scandal”.
There are no real surprises in my list, but it’s interesting to note that people actually bother to search for “michael gorey”. It’s possible they’re looking for the Canadian musician or the American tyre company executive, I suppose.
I’m disappointed some of my more insightful posts, such as the one about broccoli, don’t rank more highly.
The people searching for “the day we went to bangor” must be like me and feel nostalgic about that tune.
I’m cross now though. It’s stuck in my head after reading that and I won’t be rid of it for hours.
The next tier of keywords shows:
- kingsbridge cathedral
- media alliance
- vista problems
- york hotel kalgoorlie
- abc radio cricket
- magpie swooping season
- dorothy the dinosaur pictures
- jackie weaver
- firehorse gorey
- lunch with mussolini
I find some of those more illuminating than the top 10. Maybe I should write more about Wiggles characters.
So does your blog provide dorothy the dinosaur pictures or is that just a tease?????
I like the magpie swooping season. Have you ever been swooped by a magpie?
Twitter: mgorey
says:
Dina, magpies are bad news during September and the first part of October. I’ve been swooped more times than I like to remember.
I wrote about a Dorothy the Dinosaur concert once, but there’s only one picture
The Magipie thing sounds scary!!
They were mentioned in Jack’s Australian Dangerous Animal book!
Kalgoorlie: I remember writing about a surge in gold prices in December 2002 and picking up a Reuters interview with a bar owner in Kalgoorlie who was quoted saying “the skimpies are jumping with joy” (from all the drinks money from miners confident they’d profit from it). Seemed a bit bizarre, but fun take on what many think a rather mundane issue (personally I think movements in the commodity prices are interesting economic indicators to keep an eye on, but appreciate such issues are not everybody’s cup of tea)
