Port Adelaide

Customs House, Port Adelaide

I’ve always admired Port Adelaide, the football team, but yesterday was the first time I had visited the suburb. It’s about 10km from the city along a wide road. We took the kids to the Maritime Museum, where a special pirate exhibition was showing, and the kids watched a theatrical performance. The heritage precinct contains some magnificent old buildings. Dinosaurs Alive

Maggie and a dinosaur

We took the twins to Dinosaurs Alive in Adelaide this week. It’s just a 3.3km drive from our place to the Showgrounds, adding another interesting venue within easy reach. Cricket tickets

Comparing Ashes disasters

Rodney Hogg

England has deservedly won the 2010-11 Ashes series 3-1 after completing its unprecedented third innings victory over Australia. A caller to ABC Radio suggested this was the “worst Australian team ever”, which drew a rebuttal from Jim Maxwell that 1978-79 was a more insipid performance. My immediate reaction was to disagree with Maxwell.
