Pool of Siloam

Pool of Siloam, Beachport

The Pool of Siloam at Beachport is seven times saltier than the sea. It is a small lake about 200 metres inland from the ocean, which is fed from underground.

Kathleen at BeachportWe visited there today and the buoyancy is remarkable. We floated like corks. I imagine it would be nearly impossible to drown there.

As for the name, Pool of Siloam, Wikipedia says: “(it) is a rock-cut pool on the southern slope of the City of David (believed to be the original site of Jerusalem) now outside the walls of the Old City to the southeast. The pool was fed by the waters of the Gihon Spring, which were carried there by two aquaducts.”

The other photo shows my (nearly) 15-year-old daughter shunning the camera.

I have dozens of pictures of my other three children, but very few of Kathleen in the past couple of years.

She doesn’t let me take photos, probably because she’s worried I’ll put them on the web and embarrass her.

Michael, shame on you big time!

Don’t you know that 15 year old girls have enough problems in their life without dad making it worse. I bet she hates your guts right now, and is plotting to get even.

PS, tell Kathleen she is a beach beauty and I have a very good recipe for an arsenic sandwich, should she need back up.

Our own Dead Sea. Is it reputed to have healing properties?

Ebony, shhh. Kathleen doesn’t read this website.

Retarius, indeed! I should have mentioned that. The pool is reputed to have medicinal healing powers for people with arthritis.
