Good Friday is our first full day in Queensland. This morning we visited the Rosslyn Bay marina and took the Bluff Point walk.
The sky is grey again, but the temperature is 26 degrees.
The sea water looks murky, which is apparently a legacy of the recent cyclone.
It’s fine for swimming. We were all stung by something in water. It’s irritating, but doesn’t leave any marks and the sting goes away.
We’re not really used to the tropics. For Juliet and I it’s the first time we’ve been in these latitudes since we honeymooned in Mauritius.
The walk up Bluff Point was fascinating, despite the humidity.
There were some lovely butterflies in the forest, including a black one as large as a bird and small yellow ones.
We saw lots of lizards, some spiders (see below) and a large brown snake.
The views from the top were terrific.
We enjoyed a swim afterward at Lammermoor. With the tide in it was better than yesterday when we had to walk a long way to reach any depth.
The other good thing about today is we haven’t spent a cent!

Ha! I’ll write a post about Huntsmans one day. I visited a bachelor farmer’s house once that had dozens of them!
The snake bothered us more than the spider today.
I knew I wasn’t going to avoid that spider picture when I cleverly ignored the flickr update email. Darn. I saw a rather large Huntsman in a pit toilet at Lamington Park when I was there. I think I scared it more than it scared me! I’ve never seen a spider go so fast in the opposite direction!
