I cooked a salmon fillet tonight for the first time. I bought the fish yesterday at the market. It was cooked in the oven for 15 minutes, wrapped in foil with lemon juice and pepper; tasted delicious.

I have ruined so much fish, mostly on the grill, I don’t even try anymore. Glad to hear you have better luck (well, “skill”) with it.

I’ve ruined fish in the oven before. It was Ebony’s tip for tuna that made me think of foil for salmon and Google backed it up. You can’t really go wrong with a foil bake unless you leave it in too long.
Am so glad you enjoyed it Michael.
You might like to try this one too, with a piece of either rump, fillet, or sirloin steak.
STEAK PARCELS:-
1 piece of steak.
French onion soup mix.
A slice of lean bacon.
1 sliced tomato.
2 slices of tasty cheese.
Foil to wrap.
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:- Sprinkle soup mix over steak, add slice of bacon,
tomato, lastly cover with cheese. Wrap it up in foil, a bit like a parcel, bake in mod oven 180 C, for 1 hour.
Serve it with mashed potatoes…yum! or you can do it with salad.

Fresh tuna was about $42/kg at the market and salmon $34. What’s ocean trout? That was cheaper.
OMG, those prices are obscene!
If you like fillets of fish you can fry it or grill it, depends on your peference.
Just dip the fish in some corn or plain flour, put a knob of butter on top and place under griller until golden, turn once and serve with lemon…or if you like white sauce, chuck in a bit of parsley.
Baked Engish Fillet is good. (great with cheaper fish)
You will need about 500 grams of fish fillets (any you fancy).
2 cups cornflakes.
1 tin mushroom soup, some cayenne pepper.
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:-
Cover the fish with cold water, bring it to the boil then pour away the liquid. Remove the skin and flake (break) the fish.
Place in ovenware dish (casserole dish ok), sprinkle with cayenne pepper.
Cover with cornflakes, pour over the mushroom soup and bake in moderate oven 180 C for 20-30 minutes.
