Web browsers

I see that Opera has released a new version of its web browser. I’ve never been tempted to try Opera, because there’s a fee to remove the advertising links, but I may have a look at this out of curiosity.

I stopped using Internet Explorer a long time ago. I didn’t like the constant popups and once I had tried tabbed browsing with IE clones there was no looking back.

I used Avant browser for several months, but they seemed to release a new version every few days, so then I switched to Maxthon. I still use this to test my own pages in Internet Explorer.

I eventually joined the Firefox bandwagon though, and it’s now my main browser of choice. It has been for almost a year.

I’ve recently experimented with K-Meleon, which is also based on the Mozilla rendering engine. It’s okay, and my tendency these days is to have several pages open in Firefox and several more in K-Melon.

I’ve never been inclined to use the full Mozilla browser. It reminds me too much of Netscape, which was my original browser many moons ago. I now prefer speed and simplicity.

In Linux, I mostly use Firefox. Sometimes I browse in Konqueror or Epiphany, mainly to see the appearance of my own pages.
